IPO – changes to the filing of International Trade Mark Applications – 26 September 2016

In April 2016, the Intellectual Property Office (IPO) launched an email trial to file International Trade Mark Applications, with the help of some UK attorneys. 

IPO have confirmed that the trial has been a success and will be made available to all users from the 26th September 2016. This is an interim measure, whilst work is ongoing by IPO, to introduce an e-filing system for International Trade Mark Applications.

International Trade Mark Applications can now be emailed to the UKIPO using the following email address:-

Internationaltrademarks@ipo.gov.uk

Please note:

  • IPO are encouraging use the UKIPO version of the MM2
  • The MM17/MM18 will be accepted if filed with the MM2. 
  • No other forms or correspondence should be emailed to this address.
